When it comes to truly making yourself heard and understood by everyone that comes to your website you are going to find that there is no better way to do this than how well you write. If you are writing a simple Blog post you want to remember that Blog posts are short, I would say no more than 2 paragraphs in length or about 250 to 300 words long. If you are writing an online article using between 400 and 500 words ought to do the job nicely.
Something else that you really want to think about and keep in mind is that you need to be as clear and concise as possible. There is nothing worse than reading a sentence that simply goes on and on without seeming to get to the point. People often simply skim over the content of an article they are reading in order to get to the point they are specifically looking for. Making sure that you use as few well chosen words as possible is important here.
One thing that you really, really do need to remember and keep an eye on is the keywords that you are using in the article! This is something that absolutely CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH! You have to make sure that the keywords you are using are relevant to your material. You also need to watch that you do not have more the two percent of your content being bolded or highlighted keywords. This is something that the W3C’s rules and guidelines don’t approve of..
You will also want to make very certain that you do any research that you need to do and also make sure that you are coming across to the reader as an expert in your particular subject. There is nothing more annoying than reading an article that rambles and does not make any sense to you due to the fact that the author doesn’t have any knowledge of the subject at hand but is proposing to be an expert on the topic. This has been happening more and more lately and it really does make you look bad if your reader cannot understand what you are talking about.
The last things that you really need to watch out for, and make sure that you keep in check are both your spelling and grammar. There is nothing worse than reading an article on a website that has misspelled words, grammatical errors or run-on sentences. When you see words that are misspelled you might be thinking that the writer really needs to go back to school to learn how to spell properly; either that or have a dictionary handy to look up spellings or they should simply use the Spell Check feature that most Word Processing programs have built in. Grammatical errors make a bad impression as well.
